Annual Town Of Liberty Egg Hunt A Big Hit
Even thought the weather rained out the Spring Fling planned for after the egg hunt, it did not rain out the fun of finding those eggs. The Liberty Parks and Recreation did another outstanding job of putting on its annual town Easter Egg Hunt at Freedom Park in Liberty. April 15th was the date this year for the day of fun. There was eggs hid in all the ball field for children in different age groups. All the eggs was filled with goodies but some had even more special items of treasures for the lucky finders. This year, the dynamic duo of the husband and wife team, The Waldridge's, ran the concession booth with popcorn and drinks on hand. These two always makes sure the concessions stands or properly supplied and ran each season of ball games. This year a new addition was added by the Randolph Telephone Co, that gave away free helium balloons for all. The kids had fun playing in the bubbles as their balloons danced in the air just like the bubbles. Watermark Fellowship Church had free gift items for all to take. This year, the Celebrate Liberty’s Children Advisory Team provided several new items. They had an art section for the children to do paintings and stenciling, free face painting (which kept a long line), free gift bags for all children (that was filled with a free book, toys, and information for the parents). They also had a drop off site for the free coloring page sent home with children and that was for pickup in local stores. At the end of the day, they asked Mrs. Eva Waldridge to draw out one of the lucky children's art work to see whom won the prize Easter Basket filled with goodies. The winner was Trinity Currin, age 5, from Julian. It was so good to see the fun and great times had by the families. To see the parents and children all lined up waiting for Martin with Parks and Recreation to announce the word GO! The children was just itching to take off and find the eggs. To see the bright smiles on the children’s face as they got the first egg was a picture of pure happiness. The Parks and Recreation Foundation announced they are planning on rescheduling the games and activities they had scheduled for Spring Fling at the Fourth Event in Liberty that is scheduled for Saturday July 5. Mark your calendar so you do not miss out on the fun times at this event. See you there.
